The power of the almight dollar in plus size fashion

I know that I will never  be a Giselle lookalike, my 5 foot frame and Mexican heritage have doomed me to a lifetime of ill fitting plus size petite clothes or has it?

Say hello to Etsy ladies, where you can find gorgeous clothes custom made for you, yes it will be an investment but what do you think it would feel like to have every single piece of your wardrobe flatter your shape? It would feel incredible and it's not quite as expensive as you think, after being extremely frustrated that all the bridal gowns I'd looked at were either not available in my size or the store did not carry samples big enough for me to try on ; I looked to the internet. This is the one I fell in love with:

I was not willing to buy my dress from overseas and I really wanted to find a local dress maker, enter Etsy.com where you can find everything handmande, vintage, funky and many people across the world who make made to order clothes.

It is time we take back the right to feel beautiful, time we stop handing over money in crazy amounts to mass retailers who have proven time and again that they have no idea what we want, a more personalized, flattering fit (like "straight" sized women), time we rip off  bonds of Lame Bryant, HOrrid and the all so horribly named Dressbarn. Enough is enough time to empower local seamstresses, shoemakers and plus size resale stores like Fat Fancy and  Savvy Plus, here in Portland, OR.

Have a great resale or seasmtress in your neck of the woods? Share it! Spread the revolution and stop feeding the shame machine of the corporate plus size world. We deserve better from the industry and until they wake up and realize we will not be relegated to the back of the store, it's time to put our hard earned money elsewhere.
